A key to HII’s success supporting the U.S. Navy’s fleet is our presence and proximity to all major fleet concentration areas, also called homeports. Presence enables us to stay closely aligned with our customers, respond rapidly to emergent requirements, and save time and money for customers by minimizing travel.
HII maintains our fleet “presence” with people, industrial facilities such as machine shops and warehouses, and office facilities in Norfolk, Virgini一种;圣地亚哥;布雷默顿和埃弗里特，华盛顿；可能port, Florida; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan.

For decades, HII has provided aircraft carrier maintenance services, both in port and at sea. In particular, HII has supported sustainment activities for the aircraft carriers’ technically advanced elevator systems and aircraft launch and recovery systems, as well as general shipboard maintenance of other critical systems. HII not only finds and fixes sustainment problems; we also teach sailors how to perform maintenance tasks themselves in stride with every maintenance task.

No matter how well-built a ship is, the ocean is an unforgiving environment for any vessel. Over time, ships must come to a shore-based depot-level shipyard to undergo major overhaul and repair in order to maximize their useful operational life.
